I can’t believe I’m still watching this show. Actually, I can’t believe I even began watching it in the first place. Considering this is the eighth season, and I’ve been able to avoid it all this time, I should be pretty proud of myself. Or severely disappointed. I can’t decide which.
ANYway, here’s what happened this week.
***Spoiler Alert*** There are spoilers below, so if you haven’t watched the episode yet and don’t want to know what happens, please come back after you have seen it.
Emily and the
boys bachelors, Sean, Arie and Jef, headed to Curacao for the highly anticipated or dreaded, depending on your view, overnight date. Le sigh.
First up is Sean. They had an amazing time on their own private island after a really cool helicopter ride. Sean is a little slow in this game, for sure. I mean, at this point, he hasn’t even told Emily that he loved her yet. The other two are all about the love-slinging. Emily practically had to ask him to say it, and then she only got an I’m crazy about you. Come on, dude. You want this reality TV maybe-wife-to-be of yours bad enough, just tell her you love her, for crying out loud. But as slow as he’s been in this game, he basically came out and said that being in love and getting engaged are the same thing. Um, sure. But that’s what she wanted to hear, so good on her.
Then comes the infamous card with the key. The key to a room that the couple should choose if they want to spend the night together. Given the choice, Sean jumped on it and they retreated to their suite. Emily, in an attempt to
not huss it up be a good role model for her daughter decided that once they were there, they would not be staying the night. Good girl. Make him wait. He made you wait. Pfft.
Next, there’s Jef. Oh, Jef. The big kid at heart. Emily and Jef had a wonderful date (I don’t think she’s had a bad date…). Instead of a helicopter, they went on a boat ride. How romantic… Jef gave the impression that, although he wants to be with Emily, he still had some reservations. And he asked some legitimate questions, like where would they live after they got engaged/married. I think Emily’s answer was very sweet, but also diplomatic, saying that she’d go wherever he was, and they don’t have to live in Charlotte or Utah, and they can pick a place and live and be happy.
The infamous card and key went a little different with Jef, and I think that sealed Jef’s fate this week. He declined saying that he wants both Emily and himself to be good role models for her daughter, and they would have plenty of time after they got engaged/married to spend every night together. Okay, fine. Swoon. Emily did the same thing, saying that she was going to say everything he did, and was basically turned on because he turned it around on her. Woohoo, Jef!
And then there’s Arie. The one with the immense chemistry pretty much since day one. He even said he fell in love with Emily on their first date. Ugh. I was rooting for you until that crazy episode where the new broke that you dated a producer or something. Anyway. They swam with dolphins, and Emily was terrified. Of dolphins. Really? They, too, talked about what would happen during the after part of this whole thing.
And then comes the card and key. Emily said point blank that she loves kissing Arie, and she was afraid that if they went back to the room, there would be no stopping her. Ok, talking about trying to not get your huss on.
In my opinion, the rose ceremony was not that shocking, given that it was clear who was moving at a pace that Emily wanted, and who wasn’t at this point. *cough cough* Sean *cough cough*.
Yup. Sean got sent home and he was sad. He said when Emily walked into the rose ceremony he was fully certain that she would be his wife. Ok. Let met get this straight. You’re on a show where no one is safe, and you could go at any time. And you have the nerve to think that you’re going to be safe, especially since you waited so long to tell the one making the decision what she wanted to hear? Just checking.
So, it’s Jef and Arie that are left. And I think I know how it’s going to end based on spoilers I’ve read on the Internet. Normally, I don’t mind spoilers, but these kind of annoyed me in that, I don’t really know much about them. Anyway…
Next week is where the bachelors come back and spill all the beans. And the following week is the finale, where all will be revealed, followed by some After the Rose special.
Who do you think will be the winner this season?
